The following information should be included in the Project Proposal: Title, Introduction, Objectives, Problem Statement, Research Methodology (including location, sample, instruments, and statistical techniques to be utilised), Limitations, if applicable, and References.

Step 2: Seek advice from the supervisor/guide on topic finalisation.

Among the project supervisors that are eligible are:

a) Faculty at the Headquarters (School of Extension and Development Studies).

b) Academic Counsellors with a Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Planning and Development / a Postgraduate Diploma in Extension and Development Studies / a Postgraduate Diploma in Extension and Development Studies and appropriate experience.

c) Urban Planning and Development Teachers and Researchers

d) A doctorate in Urban Development, Development Studies, Economics, Sociology, Public Administration, Political Science, Extension Education, or a related field.

e) A master’s degree or a doctorate in Urban Development, Development Studies, Economics, Sociology, Public Administration, Political Science, Extension Education, or a similar field with at least two years of experience.

If the suggested supervisor is not acceptable to the School of Extension and Development Studies, the student will be notified, and the student should change supervisors and resubmit the application. Since a result, the student will submit a new project proposal with the signature of the new supervisor, as it will be treated as a new submission. Similarly, if a student wishes to change his or her supervisor for whatever reason, he or she must submit the project proposal together with the new supervisor’s signature on a new project proposal proforma, since it would be regarded a new submission.

In the case of academic counsellors, it should be clearly stated which courses he/she is counselling for and since when, as well as the name and code of the study centre to which he/she is affiliated. The University would pay the project supervisor a nominal remuneration of Rs.300/- for helping the student (University may revise the honorarium from time to time).

Supervisory Responsibilities

Step 3: Submission and Approval of IGNOU PGDUPDL Project Proposal

After selecting a supervisor and deciding on a topic, the student should submit the Project Proposal Proforma, one copy of the Project Proposal signed by the supervisor, and the supervisor’s bio-data to the Coordinator (PGDUPDL), School of Extension and Development Studies, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068 for approval. Students should keep a copy of the summary. Students enrolled in the January session are urged to submit project proposals by the 30th of April, and those admitted in the July session by the 31st of October, in order for the programme to be approved and completed on time. Students who miss these deadlines can still submit project proposals for approval throughout the year.

Step 4: Approval Communication

Within six weeks of the proposal’s reception at the School, a formal notice regarding project approval/non-approval will be given to the student through e-mail and postal mail.

Step 5: Project Proposal Resubmission

In the event that the proposal is not approved, the comments/suggestions for reformulating the project will be sent to the student. In this situation, the updated project proposal should be submitted along with the revised project proposal proforma and a copy of the rejected project proposal, project proposal proforma carrying the evaluator’s remarks, and the P.P. No. (Project Proposal Number) assigned.

The steps to write an IGNOU PGDUPDL Project Report are as follows:

Step 1: Formulation

• The report’s length may range from 40 to 50 double-spaced written pages, with a maximum word count of 10,000. (excluding appendices and exhibits). However, a 10% variance on each side is permitted.

• Each project report must include the following sections: Title, Introduction, Objectives, Problem Statement, Research Methodology (including the location, sample, instruments, and statistical techniques utilised), Results and Discussion, Summary, Limitations (if any), and References.

• The following information should also be included in the project report:

a) A copy of the project proposal proforma and project proposal that has been approved.

b) An originality certificate signed by both the student and the supervisor.

Step 2: Submission of IGNOU PGDUPDL Project Report

IGNOU PGDUPDL Project Report must be submitted in one typed copy to the Registrar (Students Evaluation Division), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068. As soon as you submit the Project Report, you will be assigned a P.R. No., which will be sent to the student. When contacting the Students Evaluation Division about the Project Report, the student should reference this P.R.No.

The Project Report can be submitted at any point during the year. If a Project Report is submitted between the 1st of December and the 31st of May, the outcome will be announced simultaneously with the June Term-end exams. If a Project Report is submitted between the 1st of June and the 30th of November, the results will be announced simultaneously with the December term-end examinations.
